Fuel and Vapour Permeability Testing for the Automotive industry

Understanding a fuel system’s vapour permeability performance is critical to the safety of any vehicle.  Versaperm has a new high-speed, multi-vapour, multi-chamber metre to measure this for any material, component, pipe, seal or complete system.

It can do this for any automotive vapour, including hydrocarbons, water, CO2 and greases as well as every other legal to use gas.* It can measure the individual vapour permeability of multiple gasses with a single overall measurement and the multi chamber option can do this for several samples or components at the same time.

The company has also introduced a laboratory-based testing service for companies who only have a periodic requirement.

Measurements are fast and accurate in the Parts Per Million to Parts Per Billion ranges depending on the material and vapour.  Where desired, Versaperm can control environmental conditions including temperature and pressure, It can also be measured throughout temperature, pressure, automotive, diurnal, seasonal or other cycles.

Measurement of any fabricated components and systems is especially important as processes, such as thermoforming, extruding, moulding, heating or pressure can easily change a unit’s permeability by a factor of four (i.e. 400%!)
